My ‘warming up’ series portrays the issue of global warming with representations of farm fields, dwellings, and creatures; the warming components being put forth are made from recycled/reclaimed, felted wool, sticks, wood, paper, and other found objects. The wool that is used is natural and traditional and it is reclaimed from discarded garments. Disposing of items that are deemed useless is something that is done far too easily and often in our society. "Warming Up" is a phrase we use to mean the slow acceptance of an idea: I see all around me, a gradual progress towards a more environmentally conscious society moving to a sustainable life on this earth I am still in process of adding to this collection. So far, installments of the series have been on display at the YouMe gallery in Hamilton (2008), The Art Gallery of Peel (2008), The Brantford Arts Block (2008, and 2009)and at Arts Hamilton (2010). |
